Community Based Vocational Services

The Integrated Community Based Vocational Services Department prepares individuals of all abilities to seek meaningful integrated employment within their community.  The vocational team is comprised of ACRE and CESP certified Job Developers and Job Coaches.  The vocational team works closely with each person starting with the discovery process that involves getting to know the person.  This is the foundation of all person-centered planning that seeks to customize outcomes for people of all abilities.

The Vocational Department provides multiple services.

  • Vocational exploration provides individuals with the opportunity to explore potential employment through the discovery processes and internships within the community.
  • Supported employment provides individuals with certified Job Coaches and Job Developers to assist the individual to obtain and maintain meaningful employment in the community.

The Vocational Department works closely with the Office of Rehabilitation Services, providing a variety of services throughout Rhode Island for individuals of all abilities seeking meaningful employment.

The Vocational Department also works with local school districts to provide a variety of job coaching supports to their transitional youth.  The team works closely with the students and their teachers through the discovery processes and internships within their local community.

Our Maher Center Programs offers opportunities to socialize with old  friends and meet new ones! Staying active and developing new interests are important services the Maher Center provides to our participants.  Our outings may include day trips to places like the Providence Place Mall, Block Island, Roger Williams Park Zoo and Gillette Stadium and participants have the opportunity to attend dances, concerts, sporting and  other events.

Our ongoing physical activity program with various YMCA organizations gives individuals a chance to participate in a broad range of social fitness activities.

We also offer a wide variety of programs available for participant engagement through our Day Program such as Zumba, Walking Club and Cooking Club just to name a few.
