The Maher Garden Center
where plants and people grow

The James L. Maher Center Garden Center, in association with URI Master Gardeners, will offer free soil tests on the second Saturday of each month beginning on Saturday, April 12 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm. The event will also include a Garden Information kiosk so bring your questions and garden concerns.
Sampling Instructions: Use a trowel to collect ~½ cup of soil and spread it out on a piece of newspaper or a paper plate to allow it to dry. Pour the soil into a clean labelled plastic or paper container and bring it to Maher Garden Center, 910 Aquidneck Ave., Middletown.

The Maher Garden Center supports the programs and services of the James L. Maher Center.
Our Garden Center is designed to be a place where both plants and people grow.
The shop at the Maher Garden Center is a warm, welcoming place that offers a vibrant array of plants, gifts, gardening accessories and supplies, and more. Find something green and beautiful here, and experience an extra little spark of happiness in the knowledge that your purchase supports the programs and services of the James L. Maher Center.
And there's lots more going on behind the scenes!

As part of the Maher Center's Opportunity Zone initiative, our Garden Center provides individual, one-on-one training to prepare people for jobs in horticulture. And so many wonderful friends - including volunteers from the URI Master Gardener Program - partner with our participants and staff to grow vegetables and flowers in our greenhouses, complementing garden projects at our ten supportive residences.
Look for our "open" flag flying high on Aquidneck Avenue, and come join our Garden Center community! We can't wait to see you!
